Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaire’s Club

Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaire’s Club

It seems like cartoon movies are everywhere, with Hollywood celebrities cashing in doing animated sequels like Ice Age and Madagascar. I’ve got three kids, so I know what it costs to take a family of five to the movies for an evening showing. I also recently wrote an article about the upscale cost of the new theaters that are designed to show the 3-D movies.

Now, guess who is getting into the cartoon game? Yes, none other than Warren Buffett. In his own effort to teach kids fiscal responsibility, (I guess Warren thinks maybe that time has passed for adults) he is starring as a cartoon character in a new web series called “Secret Millionaire’s Club” which goes live in January of 2010.

The club is made up of a young group of aspiring Nebraska kids who sell baseball memorabilia on line, and use whatever profits they make to begin an investment business. Warren serves as their advisor.

I own Berkshire Hathaway (A), and recently it was announced that Berkshire Hathaway (B) was proposing to do a 50 to 1 split (source seekingalpha.com). It was the first time in history that this type of split of Berkshire shares had ever come up as a possibility for new shareholders. Now it all makes sense . . . it was just for the kids
