Geoff Melkonian

Prior to wearing a chef’s hat as the co-founder of Breadwinner Inc., Geoff Melkonian, an Atlanta native, earned a double bachelor’s degree in music from Northwestern University.  Upon returning to Atlanta, Geoff worked under renowned chef Michael Touhy during his reign at Murphy’s, a beloved Virginia Highlands’ staple, for three years as a both a pastry chef and cook.  Equally passionate about food and music, in addition to honing his culinary skills at Murphy’s, Geoff made five albums and spent 10 years playing bass (upright and electric) and viola and singing backing vocals in the Josh Joplin Group.  When he’s not cooking up new ideas for his wildly successful homemade seasonal bread company, you can find Geoff performing in his popular local band The REMakes and competing with his BBQ Team “Barefoot in the Pork” at the Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Competition. www.breadwinnerbreads.com

Katie Melkonian

A self-proclaimed foodie and co-founder of Breadwinner Inc., and advocate for special needs children, Katie Melkonian originally hails from Louisville, KY.  Prior to moving to Atlanta, Ga. in 1993, Katie earned her BS from Vanderbilit University’s Peabody College.  Prior to taking the world of homemade gourmet breads, Katie handled investor relations for Turner Broadcasting and later quickly moved up the ranks as marketing coordinator, manager and then senior manager for the Cartoon Network. www.breadwinnerbreads.com
