Entering his fourteenth year as co-founder/owner of Big League Broadcasting (BLB), Andrew P. Saltzman has led WQXI-AM, now branded as Sports Radio 790 The Zone, from an unknown entity with zero ratings and no client base to one of the most respected sports marketing companies in the Southeast. His strategic vision led to new concepts in the synergy between radio sales and programming. In addition, he successfully created alternative sources of distribution for Sports Radio 790 The Zone by forging relationships with Sporting News Radio Network and Comcast, and formed sales and marketing agreements with Atlanta Falcons Radio and CBS Atlanta TV. Saltzman led negotiations to become the flagship station for Georgia Tech football and Georgia Tech basketball, the Atlanta Hawks, the Chick-fil-A Bowl, and the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.
BLB also broke ground with the creation of the first and only urban focused sports talk radio program called the “2 Live Stews,” hosted by brothers, Ryan and Doug
Stewart. As a result of their tremendous success in the Atlanta market, Andrew has executed national syndication deals since January 2006. The Stews are broadcast nationally to approximately 35 radio stations and on satellite in the U.S. currently through Sporting News Radio Network. The Stewart brothers are also bi-weekly guests on ESPN’s “First Take,” and were voted one of Talkers Magazine’s “250 Most Important Radio Talk Show Hosts in America” for the past two years.
Saltzman serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Sports Council, the steering committee for the National Sports Marketing Network and served on the Executive Advisory Committee for Super Bowl XXXV. He has been nominated for Ernst and Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” as well as Street and Smith’s “Forty Under 40.”
Sports Radio 790 The Zone was awarded Atlanta’s top 20 “Best Places to Work” (small companies category with under 100 employees) by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in 2006 and also by Atlanta Magazine in 2008.
Saltzman graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S.B.A. He and his wife Amy have two sons, Max and Leo.
