You never pass up a good burger with a side of fries. Here are five of my top places to grab a burger in Atlanta.
1.) Flip Burger Boutique - The first time I ate at Flip, the menu really blew me away. It completely changed my notion of what a 'burger' could be as the menu has features like a fried chicken burger, a blackened shrimp burger, and a fauxlafel burger. It also wouldn't be a visit to Flip without indulging in the N2 Liquid Milkshakes which feature Nutella with Burnt Marshmallow, Cap N' Crunch, and Krispy Kreme milkshakes. I would also tell you that the Brussel sprouts and tater tots with chocolate salt were outstanding. Visit Site
2.) Yeah! Burger - You can find this burger joint in Virginia Highlands or in the Howell Mill area. You start out at Yeah! Burger by choosing your patty. I tried the Bison burger which was delectable. If you don't like burgers, they also have nitrate free dogs which I was able to taste as well. You have all kinds of cheeses to choose from on the menu and I especially liked the coleslaw that had a touch of mint added to the mix. The onion rings should be a must do if you to Yeah! Burger.Visit Site
3.) The Counter - The counter features a really unique menu to build your own burger. They give you a checklist that looks almost like going to the grocery store. You can have your burger in a salad or on a bun depending on what suits your needs. You choose whether you want a beef, turkey, or veggie burger along with the choice of almost a dozen different cheeses. The really cool thing is that you get four free toppings that can range from pepporcinis to coleslaw to grilled onions. For a small fee you can add some premium toppings and then choose a sauce to top it off. I might add that getting a mix of the onion strings and fries is a great idea. The fries are thin and salty, and work perfect with your Counter burger. Visit Site
4.) Local Three - OK. This isn't really a burger joint, but it has one of my all time favorite 'named' burgers which is the McDowell burger. The menu has all kinds of interesting dishes, but the McDowell burger is the real deal straight from the movie Coming To America. It has two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, all on a bun . . . but no sesame seeds please. You must try the Brussel sprouts on the side made with brown butter and cherry bitters which are out of this world with the burger. If you are in for interesting cocktails, go for the Marmot which has a taste of its own. Visit Site
5.) Grindhouse Killer Burgers - At Grindhouse burgers, you get to start your meal by choosing a 'grind' whether it be beef, turkey, or veggie. I tried my burger cowboy style fresh with bacon and a Vidalia onion on the sandwich. You must try the Vidalia onion rings if you go to Grindhouse as they are made with a fresh cornmeal coating which is scrumptious. Also, the starter of the Sweet Potato Kettle Chips will get your meal off and going. Visit Site
