You Don’t Need 3D TV

I have been seeing all of these commercials as of late on how you can have 3D TV in your home.   Let me be the first to tell you that you simply don’t need this technology for the price tag it will carry.

I think I saw my first 3D movie in 1981 called Coming At Ya’ which was a Western style type movie with objects seemingly rolling out of the screen and into the movie seats.  Remember, the Friday the 13th installment that was in 3D?  There was nothing cooler than having those red and green 3D glasses, and only every once in a while did a new 3D movie come out in the theaters.  Now, for an arm and a leg you too can take your family to see one of the many cartoon fantasies on the big screen.  No red and green classes, but certainly some cooler special effects.

Now, I want you think about this.  Why do you need 3D TV in your home?  Maybe there will be a cool movie every once in while, but do you need to see Joy Behar in 3D.   That show is scary enough in 2D.   Think about the fact that you look goofy enough when you are waving your hands in front of your face in the movie theater at imaginary objects.  Do you really want to be doing that in your living room?   The weather in 3D?   Will the network news stations have the snow and hail come down so it actually feels like it is coming right at you in your bedroom?

The bottom line is that you will be bombarded with this technology over the next several years.  You have already got three remotes and enough cable channels to remember, and now you need to figure out where you left the 3D glasses?  Skip it, 3D without the glasses isn’t that far behind.

Ted Jenkin @ Your Smart Money Moves

My friends and family all think I’m a workaholic, but I say I’m just a guy that loves to help people do better in life.

My mother is still the only one that calls me by my real name Theodore Michael, my wife calls me Teddy, but for the rest of you it is just plain old Ted.

Ever since I was a little kid, I always loved money and being an entrepreneur. In fact, I still have cassette tapes of me talking to my grandmother at the age of five and my mother tells me all the time how much I played with money as a kid...
