Is Black Friday Now Black Thursday Night?

It’s that time of year when the real holiday shopping season begins. Everyone knows it as the dreaded Black Friday.  With my schedule today on Thanksgiving, I almost wonder if they should start calling the holiday Late Black Thursday Evening.

My daughter told me the other night that the local North Point Mall has a Rocking Shoppin’ Eve that would be just great for dad and her to go to as the clocks strikes midnight on Thanksgiving.  I thought she was kidding because how early can Black Friday really begin?  (

After doing a little homework, I did in fact find out that the North Point Mall in Alpharetta, GA is going to open its doors for a few hours as the clock strikes midnight and give away some cool prizes as well as exclusive shopping deals.  The next morning (just a few hours later) they will open their doors at six a.m. to let the real shoppers get their holiday season going with a special gift when you make a purchase.

Well, I am going to get into the car just before midnight and take my daughter over the North Point Mall to officially be one of the first holiday shoppers. Who really knows what exclusive deals will mean, but I sure hope it isn’t a buy one get one free deal at Yankee Candle because I generally pass out the first time I get a sniff of that store.

This experience of Black Friday really isn’t about the deals.  It is about spending time with family.  Everyone at least once in their lives has to go experience Black Friday at a store near you. It is just one of those events you can’t explain until you have actually done it yourself.  Keep these precious memories of being with your family, and enjoy a great shopping day in America. Remember, deal is only a deal if you really think you got a deal. Keep on making smart money moves through the holiday season and into 2011!

Ted Jenkin @ Your Smart Money Moves

My friends and family all think I’m a workaholic, but I say I’m just a guy that loves to help people do better in life.

My mother is still the only one that calls me by my real name Theodore Michael, my wife calls me Teddy, but for the rest of you it is just plain old Ted.

Ever since I was a little kid, I always loved money and being an entrepreneur. In fact, I still have cassette tapes of me talking to my grandmother at the age of five and my mother tells me all the time how much I played with money as a kid...
