Are you one of those people who bought a big entertainment book that sat in your glove compartment until the end of the year when you realized you used only three coupons? Or worse yet, did you recently spend money on a Groupon that you swore you would use only to let the money dwindle down the drain? Once you buy a super deal voucher whether it is from Groupon or another coupon site, what do you do with it if you simply aren’t going to use it? I guess you could put it on eBay, Craigslist, or just write it off as a loss. However, a whole number of coupon / deal reseller sites have cropped up today to allow you to sell your deal to another willing buyer.
Deals Go Round (www.dealsgoround.com), is labeled as a site where daily deals get a 2nd chance. This site allows you to set up a deal wallet to allow you to organize the litany of deals that you get from different sites as well as offer you the ability to both buy and sell deals. The site will typically take a 10% commission through PayPal for helping you make the transaction, which seems to me like a small price to pay versus losing 100% of a deal you won’t use. They also offer a sixty day refund policy as well.
Coup Recoup (www.couprecoup.com), is labeled as site which is your marketplace for local deals. For example, there was a recoup deal where a seller was offering the following: 74% off LAS VEGAS Vacation (Palms Hotel): 1-Night Weekend Stay for Two in Suite + Spa & Club Pass + $50 Credit to Simon Restaurant/Lounge. This deal was originally $377, but the reseller deal was $99. Rather than going to some of the major reselling websites, you might be able to find another person in the country who bought one of those deals, but is now not going to use it. This could give you the opportunity to get a double fire sale deal. Currently, this site is free to use.
Lifesta (www.lifesta.com), is labeled as simply buy and sell deals. Lifesta charges 99 cents and 8% of the transaction to the seller, but has an amazing in writing guarantee. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase on Lifesta.com. If you buy a deal on our site and within 60 days find out it was invalid or has already been used, we will refund your money. This site seems to be organized with maps, testimonials, and Facebook followers to put you at ease about making the transaction.
With all of the deals and coupons flying through our e-mails every day, you are bound to purchase a few that catch your attention. If you aren’t able to use what you bought, make a smart money move and see if you can get some of your cash back by selling to someone who truly wants the deal now!
It’s important with the ups and downs in the markets to review your investment portfolio and make sure you have a balanced approach of having a core and opportunity portfolio. We generally tell clients today we act like an investment personality of part Warren Buffett and part Jimmy Buffett. Some part of your portfolio has to be a long-term managed asset allocation of buy and hold and part of it is seizing on the opportunity of where it just turned 5 o’clock.
